Overnight in Paris, legendary fashion house Christian Louboutin put on a fantastical display using innovative digital formats — including augmented reality, 3D projections and the gaming platform Zepeto — to showcase its highly anticipated Spring/Summer 2022 collection.

Aptly titled ‘Loubillusions’, the 360° immersive experience took place at L’Atelier des Lumières in Paris — a former 19th century foundry that’s since been reimagined as a museum dedicated to digital art exhibitions.

For the purpose of Louboutin’s digital showcase, the 3000 square metres of white space was transformed to feature four distinct animations, each corresponding to a theme woven within the Spring/Summer 2022 collection, from zen Japanese gardens to magnificent golden waterfalls. Projected onto the walls, the experience was encompassing and interesting — a nod to the future of fashion week’s and the place technology has in the viewing of collections.

The collection also introduced Carasky, a new bag style that stems from Louboutin’s fascination for crowns and gems. The bag comes in a variety of colors (including taupe, pink, cream shearling, white and black), and is adorned with four Cara spikes to add a touch of glamour into the every day.

Other highlights included the ‘Our Angels’ collection, a genderless first for Louboutin consisting of boots and leather goods.

There was also Boom Boom, a candy-like collection of bright, playful pieces; Pin Up, with cartoonish motifs by artist David Berod; and Or De Saba, a stellar display of Louboutin’s dedication to superior craftsmanship.
