Everyone’s Hollywood boyfriend Chris Evans seems to have a new girlfriend, and while we’re very happy for him — we’re also pretty unhappy for ourselves and our fantasies of it being us. The news comes via People, who are usually a little more reliable than most tabloids. They’re suggesting the Captain America star is dating Portuguese actress Alba Baptista, and that it’s not some little fling, either.
Apparently the couple have been together for over a year (!!) and it’s definitely serious. “They are in love and Chris has never been happier. His family and friends all adore her,” a source told People.
You might recognize Baptista — she recently starred in the film Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris alongside everyone’s other favorite Hollywood boyfriend, Emily in Paris star Lucas Bravo.
It’s also going to be impossible to hate Baptista — she sounds incredible. According to People, she speaks five languages and is passionate about humanitarian work, spending time at a Cambodian orphanage in 2018 to assist with education. She’s also a rising star in the acting world, scoring the Shooting Star award at the Berlin Film Festival this year.
Evans’ last high-profile relationship was with comedian Jenny Slate. Ever the classy guy, he gushed about Slate after their 2017 break up, “she’s my favorite human. I’ve never, ever met someone in my life who has a mastery of the English language the way she does. She’ll give you one sentence and there’s no fat to it. You’re like, ‘You just chose such an unbelievable collection of words that beautifully articulate what you say.’”
The news of Evans’ rumored new girlfriend comes after the actor landed the coveted position of People’s 2022 Sexiest Man Alive. In his interview, Evans said that now, at 41, he’s focused on both acting and building his personal life. He said that a partner and children is “absolutely something I want,” although he stressed that when he finds his perfect match, he’ll probably be very quiet about it.
“Some things you want just for you, or just for my family and my friends,” he told the outlet.
