In 2020, we were all indubitably immersed into Chloe x Halle‘s Ungodly Hour — a relentlessly sultry confessional of love in the twenty-somethings over blissfully syncopated R&B beats. Assisted by their Gen Z wit, the album floated above the fray of the tempestuous times as a brilliantly-executed reprieve from the chaos. Over a year later, Beyoncé’s protégé duo are undoubtedly cemented in the industry as a double force to be reckoned with, but are now honing into the prowess of their sole endeavors. While Halle is perusing London as she films for her role as Princess Ariel in Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid reboot, it looks like we’ll be getting intimately acquainted with Chloe’s musical ingenuity.

Welcoming in her 23rd birthday on Thursday, Chloe unveiled a sizzling clip of her twerking on a bed to the unreleased single, later revealing its the teaser to her forthcoming debut single “Have Mercy.” Catapulting us into a seductive trance, Murda Beatz (re: Drake’s “Nice For What”) enters the track with a fitting interjection: “Booty So Big, Lawd Have Mercy.” And from there, the rest is history. As her sugary falsetto interplays with a diluted bounce-esque beat, the singer-songwriter delivers us the perfect one-leg twerk and seals our interest with a split.

Chloe has been emerging us all into her journey of sexual liberation, even the heart-rending turns of bracing the unwarranted misogyny that tails women in the industry. And from the looks of it, her supporters are still lauding her moves in spite of any critics.

As of late, we don’t have a date to pen the epic release into our calendars, but we do surmise that Chloe has been teasing us without us even noticing. On Wednesday, Chloe posted a stunning photo to Instagram of her donning a black body contouring leather dress that complimented her hourglass physique. In the caption, she wrote “lawd have mercy 😉.”
