It’s near impossible to believe that in just over a month’s time, 2020 will be over. Of course, this by no means signals the end of the chaos that these past 12 months have brought, but with talk of a vaccine and the end of Trump’s presidency on the horizon, here’s hoping 2021 will at least be a little less anxiety inducing.
Of course, COVID has meant that we’ve all lost out on birthday celebrations, weddings, and family celebrations and, in the USA, Thanksgiving was no different. Despite the holiday historically being focused on spending time with family, due to lockdown and travel restrictions, many opted to stay home and have small dinners instead.
The same goes for celebrities, many of whom took to social media to share snippets of their low-key day, such as Jennifer Aniston hanging out with her new puppy and Gigi Hadid making Thanksgiving dinner for her new family of three.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry
Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and their 19-month-old son Archie Harrison celebrated their first Thanksgiving in America at their new home in Montecito, California. According to People, the couple was joined by the duchess’ mother, Gloria Ragland, who usually lives in Los Angeles.
“They are going to have a quiet dinner at home and are looking forward to celebrating their first American Thanksgiving in the States as a family,” a source told Harper’s Bazaar. “They plan to enjoy a home-cooked meal with traditional Thanksgiving dishes, including recipes made with fresh vegetables from their garden.”
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend
Teigen told People that she and John Legend are “downsizing a little bit” this holiday season and plan to make this year’s Thanksgiving celebrations about “enjoying time with family.”
“I just don’t have it in me! I’ve been doing this for 10 years with John and his family now, and I think I’ve gotten a little tired of just seeing so much food go to waste. I go way too hard with way too many sides,” she explained. “We’re just going to do the staples, and it’s going to be beautiful and we’re going to watch football.”
“We’re making it much more about enjoying the time with [family],” Teigen continued. “I don’t want to wake up at 4 in the morning the entire week anymore to get [the meal] done. I want to enjoy the meal with my family while they’re enjoying it.”
Gigi Hadid
The new mum posted photos of herself preparing Thanksgiving dinner for her family, before later sharing a closeup of the table settings, revealing she and Zayn Malik hosted this year’s get together, the first with their newborn daughter.
Reese Witherspoon
The actress shared a photo of herself and her family before Thanksgiving dinner at their home in Malibu, California. She wrote, “Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours. ✨Feeling very grateful for all the frontline workers, medical workers and people who are caring for others today. And I’m deeply grateful for ALL of you! Sending my LOVE. 🥰🦃🍁🥧❤️”
