There is no time like the present to light a candle: you’re inside (at least, you should be) and the temperature is dropping. Chances are you’re also spending more time than ever before watching, streaming and bingeing anything and everything (Tiger King, anyone?). So why not marry the two? Make the most of time spent indoors with the below edit of candle-and-content pairings, from wholesome/heart-warming to reality trash.

Clueless + Carriere Freres La Rose Aime La Menthe Candle

Cher Howowitz would like, totally pause to light this candle. It’s sweet and romantic thanks to the underlying rose accord, but punchy spearmint keeps it spirited. Now dim the lighting, put on a silk slip and bake some cookies. You’ve got a 90s movie to binge.

Sex And The City + Dior Bois D’Argent

Carrie Bradshaw would absolutely appreciate a revered fashion house in candle form, would she not? Bois D’argent is gritty and sophisticated, just like her beloved New York City. It’s the perfect pairing while you settle in to watch seasons one, two and three.

Contagion + Byredo Apocalyptic

The strong-willed will not likely be lured by the predictive 2011 film Contagion, where an unprecedented virus sweeps the globe at breakneck speed. It’s definitely darker than current days, but there are too many similarities to not question everything. Pair it with equally dark (but also supremely luxurious) Byredo Apocalyptic: a warm, metallic, smoky scent. (Only watch if you’re feeling up to it, otherwise scroll on for lighter ideas).

Breakfast At Tiffany’s + Diptyque Baies

Escape to a brighter, more bustling version of New York City with Audrey Hepburn and Breakfast At Tiffany’s. Diptyque Baies feels just right: delicate and beautiful, like small sweet roses and bubbling blackberry jam. LBD and diamond fit optional.

The Crown + Tom Ford Fucking Fabulous

News broke a few weeks ago that Prince Charles had unfortunately contracted COVID-19 (thankfully, he has since recovered). Maybe while he isolates he can watch The Crown? The royal insider series is slow to start but worth persevering. And while the grandeur of British Monarchy is hard to match, Tom Ford Fucking Fabulous – with its textural, unadulterated opulence – feels like a relatively good option.

Love Is Blind + Fornasetti Flora

Escapist content simply does not come better than Love Is Blind, a reality series where contestants meet and date a potential suitor behind closed doors. While your brain switches of, bask in the sweet scent of Fornasetti Flora, an incredibly beautiful, hand-crafted candle reminiscent of a lavish private garden overflowing with lush greenery and white flowers. The vessel itself is a work of art, too.

 F.R.I.E.N.D.S + Cire Trudon Ourika

We don’t know what perfume Rachel Green would wear but we imagine it’s something like this this candle from Cire Trudon: spicy, powdery and expensive-smelling. A complex floral, it’s luxurious but not overbearing, making it a wonderful pick in small spaces. Burn through both the candle and respective F.R.I.E.N.D.S seasons at your leisure.

Something’s Gotta Give + Circa Home Vanilla and Sea Salt

If a Nancy Meyers film doesn’t smell like flaky Maldon sea salt and freshly-baked cookies then the sky isn’t blue. This extremely wholesome Diane Keaton and salty-sweet candle combo is sure to lift your spirits (if only for a moment).
