First, it was Bottega Veneta, then it was Jean Paul Gaultier—and now Balenciaga is the latest fashion brand to wipe it’s Instagram feed clean. What does this mean? That partwe‘re still unclear and confused on Balenciaga‘s apparent reason. As we‘ve seen with previous brands, this could signal them employing the no-marketing marketing approach (cough cough Bottega), a relaunch, or potentially an end of an era.

As we anxiously wait to gather what exactly is going on over at Balenciagawe can’t help but naturally wonder what creative director Demna Gvasalia has up his sleeves now. The end of an era at Balenciaga is improbable as the iconic brand is undoubtedly having a huge moment right now. This past April, Gucci‘s creative director Alessandro Michele famously “hacked” the luxury fashion house during his Gucci Aria show—earning the catchy nickname of “Gucciaga” among loyal fans. And in JuneGvasalia‘s struck back by incorporating Gucci‘s codes in a physidigital show.

The brand has additionally had a recent hand in a couple of successful partnerships this year so far. Including a collab with Crocs (yes, I’m talking about the infamous croc stiletto hybrid) and drag superstar RuPaul on a curated Apple Music playlist and merchandise. For now, I guess we have no choice but to wait and see what comes from the dynamic brand. We’ll be setting our Instagram notifications and staying tune as the story develops further. Until then, rewatch the Balengiaca Spring-Summer 2022 runway show, “Clones” below:
