Ever since the early noughts the world’s most innovative tech giants promised thinner, sleeker products each season. So when Apple unveiled its latest iMac this month I was quietly surprised at how thin things could really get. At just 11.5 millimeters (reminiscent of the thickness of the first iPhone), the all-new computer is not only powerful (enabled by a M1 chip), it’s incredibly stylish.

As a regular WFH employee, there is nothing more satisfying than returning to a desktop set up at the office. But following this latest release, the iMac could allow that to happen inside the home due to its subtle presence and an array of soft colors to match a user’s personal style and to brighten any space.

The specs are pretty impressive too. The iMac features a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with 11.3 million pixels, 500 nits of brightness, and over a billion colors – think a vibrant and crisp viewing experience. It also includes a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, studio-quality mics, and a six-speaker sound system – the best camera and audio ever in a Mac – with Zoom calls and self-shot content a high-res breeze. Combining the power and performance of M1 and macOS Big Sur, apps launch with blazing speed and demanding workloads like editing 4K video and working with huge images is faster than ever.

“M1 is a gigantic leap forward for the Mac, and today we’re excited to introduce the all-new iMac, the first Mac designed around the breakthrough M1 chip,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “With its striking design in seven stunning colors, its immersive 4.5K Retina display, the best camera, mics, and speakers ever in a Mac, and Touch ID, combined with the amazing performance of M1 and the power of macOS Big Sur, the new iMac takes everything people love about iMac to an entirely new level.”

In addition, the iMac arrives with the magic mouse, keyboard and trackpad in the same soft colorways.
