In today’s cute news, Anna Faris and her partner of four years, cinematographer Michael Barrett, have tied the knot.

On Wednesday’s episode of her podcast, Anna Faris is Unqualified, the actress revealed that she and Barrett secretly eloped at a courthouse in Washington State recently. Not only did the public not know about the wedding until now, but neither did the pair’s respective families—both of whom found out after the pair were already man and wife.

During a conversation with a caller on this week’s episode, Faris said, “I’m looking around.. my fiancé’s right—he’s now my husband. Yes, we eloped.” Faris then acknowledged her husband might not have been expecting the news to go public just yet by adding, “I’m sorry, honey. I just blurted that out, but it just feels like I can’t say ‘fiancé’ anymore.”

Though Faris didn’t give many more details about her special day, she did say, “It was awesome, yeah, it was great,” adding, “It was at a local courthouse up in Washington State.”

Faris added the couple’s families found out in a similar, unplanned way. “We saw my family, and it kind of slipped out the same way,” she said. “My aunt asked me, ‘You are going to be a stepmum [referencing Barrett’s two children]. How are you feeling about that?’ and I said, ‘Well, actually, I am a stepmum as of like four days ago, but it was great.’ Everything about it just felt right.”

Faris began dating Barrett in 2017 while the pair were both working on her film Overboard. They were first spotted together in September of that year—a month after Faris and her ex-husband Chris Pratt surprised everyone when they announced their separation after eight years of marriage.

Last January, Faris and Barrett’s engagement was confirmed by Faris’ friend and former Mom costar Allison Janney, who told Us magazine that the pair had secretly “been engaged for a long time.”

In May, Faris told PEOPLE that she and Barrett “had an immediate kind of intimacy” when they met. “We’re both probably introverts in a very similar way,” she said. “And he has two children and that has been awesome. I’ve really learned a lot about myself through his kids. It’s been really rewarding.”

During the early stages of the pandemic, the family did a similar thing to A$AP Rocky and Rihanna, hiring a camper van and travelling around the country in it. “We bought a camper van and travelled with a portable printer for school,” Faris told PEOPLE. “Jack has been handling this whole thing like a champ. I just feel very happy that my family is safe. And I don’t think I’ve ever been so present.”

Last month, Faris reflected on her experience with marriage, sharing the advice she’d give to Jack. “I don’t know if it’s too grumpy and cruel to say in a sense but if I could tell my 8-year-old son one thing that maybe he would stick to, I would really encourage him to not get married in his 20s,” Faris said.
