So you need a new handbag (does one ever not need a new handbag?). You’re likely looking for a bag that fits all of your essentials without sacrificing elegance. Our current obsession that satisfies every single one of our wants and needs is Alexander McQueen’s Tall Story bag collection. It’s fresh off the runway and — dare we say — the fashion house’s most practical design…ever.
Taller sister of the label’s The Story Shoulder Bag, this spacious tote will fit your laptop, along with the rest of your on-the-go essentials. There’s also a front-zip pocket that’s perfect for stashing your phone, credit cards, and your favorite lipstick.
If the Tall Story Bag collection looks familiar, that’s because it walked the AW20 runway and starred in the label’s accompanying campaign. Photographed by Jamie Hawkesworth and art directed by design agency M/M (Paris), the campaign stars models Anok Yai, Sora Choi, and Jill Kortleve. Check it out below:
The campaign spotlights two of the Tall Story bags: a fabulous color-blocked design and a timeless black tote with contrasting red trim. Its new seasonal iterations are inspired by the colors seen on the runway: elegant hues of red, damson, and black.
It’s hard not to be enamored by the sculptural lines of this tote. Some other features worth noting are the bags’ leather tag repping the Alexander McQueen seal and modern, metallic handles inspired by jewelry. These handles were designed with a natural curve so that it’s comfortable to hold, but you can also use the leather shoulder strap if you so choose.
If we *had* to choose just one, we would pick the aforementioned patchwork tote. The design takes cues from the AW 2020 collection’s “pieced and patched” aesthetic, and it’s undoubtedly a head-turner. Loyal McQueen fans likely recall the iconic moment at Paris Fashion Week in which a model took to the runway wearing this bag with a matching coat-dress. The moment was beyond breathtaking and worthy of filing under your fall-winter fashion inspo.
But if you’d prefer to opt for a different color, the good news is that the brand has a whole collection full of Tall Story bags to choose from. The only bad news is that it’s kinda-sorta impossible to choose just one. There’s a tan calf leather Tall Story for the fashion-lover who wants their bag to match with everything and bright two-toned options if you want to make a statement. In short, there’s a tote for everyone’s unique style.
