Say goodbye to the ultra-flat blowouts of the early 2000s and make way for XXL volume! This 90s blowout trend has swept across everywhere, and tutorials on how to create it are showering across TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. How can you resist this hairstyle adopted by JLO, Selena Gomez, and even Kylie Jenner?

Grazia reveals all the secrets to achieving this look from your bathroom.

What is the 90s blowout?

To describe this blowout, you just need to delve into the photo archives of Cindy Crawford from the 90s. Indeed, it was her signature style, as well as that of Claudia Schiffer and many others. The hairstyle is characterized by inward-facing waves, volume supported by lifted roots, and shiny lengths with a bouffant effect.

The 90s blowout rides this wave of glamour currently taking over the beauty sphere, and we admit, we love it!

How to achieve the 90s blowout?

To start, your hair must be damp, and you should apply volume mousse and/or spray. Then use a round bristle blow dryer to lift the roots as much as possible. You can also arm yourself with a round brush and a hair dryer, old school style. To prevent the hairstyle from falling flat, maintain the large waves with hair rollers.

The goal is to let the hair cool down in the shape created by the chosen styling tool. Once your hair has cooled, remove the rollers, and brush your hair forwards. For the best results, it’s preferable to flip your head down during the brushing process.

To finish, run your fingers roughly through your hair to bring a little order into the hairstyle, and voila, you’re done!
