London Fashion Week fall 2021 is officially underway—orchestrated, of course, via live-streamed runways and immersive digital events. For the first time in its history, the new LFW schedule includes both menswear and womenswear, meaning established names like Victoria Beckham and Emilia Wickstead will show alongside emerging menswear labels like Edward Crutchley and Nicholas Daley.

In celebration of the new season, we’re rounding up the five new designers worth paying attention to. From the Harry Styles-approved genderfluid masterpieces of Harris Reed, to the London Fashion Week debut of a beloved Korean streetwear label, consider these the names worth committing to memory—star status beckons.

Edward Crutchley

A protege of Kim Jones (having worked under Jones during his tenures at Louis Vuitton and Dior Homme), Edward Crutchley is a designer’s designer. His collections are intellectual, thoughtful, and impeccably crafted—part of the many reasons his eponymous label nabbed the ‘Innovator’ and ‘Menswear’ awards at the prestigious Woolmark Prize in 2019. For Fall 2021, Crutchley paid homage to his Northern roots and the characters of his childhood in Yorkshire—think khaki farmer’s-style jackets and silk headscarves, the latter crafted by Stephen Jones. Harris Reed

Given Reed’s ubiquity online—the 24-year-old is friends with Harry Styles and beloved by A-listers like Miley Cyrus—it’s hard to believe this season marks his first appearance on the London Fashion Week schedule. Reed debuted a six look, quasi-couture Fall 2021 collection overnight, his first runway appearance since graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2020. A fabulous mix of womenswear and menswear staples, read our full review (and see every look) here.

Bethany Williams

Sustainability-focused designer Bethany Williams burst onto the fashion industry’s radar in 2019 when she was made the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Award for Design. Two years on and Williams is continuing to make waves with her knitwear-heavy menswear pieces, as well as her radical commitment to ethical design which includes recycling garments co-created by prison inmates, and working to fund homeless shelters and food banks. See her first offering of 2021, a capsule collection of coats, here.

MAXXIJ

Seoul-based MAXXIJ already have a cult following in their native Korea—now, they have their sights set on London. For the second season in a row, the brand will showcase their newest collection as a part of London Fashion Week and Seoul Fashion Week, an innovative way of showcasing their avant-garde, deconstructed pieces to loyal customers in both Europe and Asia. Catch the new collection at 11:15AM GMT on Saturday February 20th.

Nicholas Daley

London-based Nicholas Daley calls upon his mixed Jamaican and Scottish heritage when designing collections for his eponymous label, marrying fabrics like wool and heavy tartan with visual cues from iconic Jamaican artists like Lee “Scratch” Perry. A Central Saint Martins graduate who cites Yohji Yamamoto as his greatest inspiration, Daley debuted his Spring Summer 21 collection, ‘Stepping Razor,’  at London Fashion Week via an immersive film starring karate champion, Jordan Thomas (you can watch it here).
