Before we begin, let’s get one thing straight, dating is hard… like, really hard. And one of the toughest parts of the whole ordeal is, of course, the outfit. No matter what the weather is, picking out that perfect look is incredibly stressful. It could be 75 degrees and sunny and I still find myself in a panic. So, what in the world do you do when it’s freezing? Well, we’re here to help ease your fears.
The perfect date outfit is a very tricky balancing act — you want to be sexy but not too sexy, you want to show your personality but not be too over the top. We know — it’s challenging stuff! On top of all of this, you have to add in the elements, which brings us to the task at hand — how to dress for a winter date.
There’s always the easy way out, which includes dark denim, a black turtleneck, some booties and a pair of gold hoops. But, I do not endorse this. Fashion girls don’t shy away from a challenge and I am here to prove that yes, it is possible to not only look sexy and stylish but also stay warm on a winter date. Below I’ve provided three examples that serve as great inspo to nail the look. Dating is hard enough, picking out your outfit doesn’t have to be.

Sexy Satin
If you ever need any sort of date night outfit inspo look no further than Morgan Stewart’s Instagram. Her style is the perfect mix of sexy and sophisticated. This head-to-toe silky-satin look is a great alternative to a boring blouse and jeans. You’ll be just as covered up but, the texture and shine of the fabric elevates the silhouette. I like how Morgan kept the accessories really minimal and leaned into this sleek ’90s look. The outfit gives off this understated effortless feel which is incredibly sexy. To make things more weather-appropriate, I would swap out the opened toe shoes for a pair of black pumps. Throw on a heavy coat and you’re ready to go.
A Maxi Moment
Maxi skirts, specifically denim ones, are having a serious moment. A more polished alternative to the mini skirt, a maxi can be just as sexy. In order to achieve the same effect, you’re going to want to opt for items that accentuate your figure so you don’t drown in a fabric overload. The best part is you can layer some warm tights underneath and no one will see. Again, swap out the slingbacks for a pair of boots to make the look more weather-appropriate.
The New Suit
A suit isn’t typically categorized as a date night look, but let’s rethink this for a minute. The goal is to find elevated (weather-appropriate) outfit options to avoid the boring jeans and a blazer route. Ditch the blazer all together and rock a vest worn as a top. To avoid looking too corporate there needs to be some skin showing. Wear nothing underneath the vest or throw on a lace black bra to peak out from under, and wear it with matching trousers. Personally, I would wear a pair of sexy slingbacks to dress things up and throw on a sleek black coat.
