An eye cream by the coffee station and a basket of creams by the TV: her trick for never skipping skincare. Most skincare routines fail for the same reason: we forget. Products sit in a bathroom cabinet, used diligently for a week and then abandoned. Elizabeth Hurley has a simpler solution, and it starts in her kitchen.
The actress and longtime Estée Lauder ambassador, 61, keeps her products where she already spends time every day, so applying them becomes automatic.
The Eye Cream by the Kettle
Hurley explained the habit to Woman & Home. Her eye cream sits at her coffee station. “I’ve got a little pot of Re-Nutriv Eye pot right now,” she said. “So, while I’m waiting for the kettle to boil, I’ll do a little dab.”
The publication links the product to Estée Lauder’s Re-Nutriv Ultimate Diamond Age Reversal Eye Creme. Several times a day, the wait for hot water becomes a moment of skincare.
The Station by Her TV Chair
She uses the same logic in the living room. “By the chair where I normally sit to watch TV, I’ve got an Aveda hand cream, a moisturiser, a neck cream, a spray,” she said. In a previous interview, she has said she moisturizes up to six times a day, and these stations make that realistic.
She also mentioned a lip mask by Dr.Jart+ and her long-standing favorite, Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair serum.
Why Habit Stacking Works
Hurley’s method is a classic example of habit stacking: attaching a new behavior to something you already do, like making coffee or sitting down in the evening. Because the trigger is automatic, the new habit needs far less willpower. Placing the product in plain sight removes the last obstacle.
Why Reapplying Moisturizer Matters After 50
With age, skin tends to produce less oil and lose moisture more easily, which makes it feel drier and look less plump. Dermatologists commonly recommend applying moisturizer right after washing, when skin is still slightly damp, and reapplying hand cream after each hand wash. The neck and the backs of the hands are often neglected, though they show dryness and sun damage quickly.
Regular top-ups through the day, especially in heated rooms in fall and winter, help keep skin comfortable. Daily sunscreen on the face, neck and hands remains essential.
How to Set Up Your Own Three Stations
The kitchen: keep a small eye cream or a hand cream near the kettle or coffee maker.
The living room: place a basket by your favorite chair with hand cream, a neck cream and a hydrating mist.
The bedside: leave a lip balm or lip mask and a rich hand cream on your nightstand for the end of the day.
Choose travel sizes or small pots so the stations look tidy, and refill them when you restock.
Her Message for October
Hurley has worked with The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Campaign since 1995, 31 years this year. Her message for Breast Cancer Awareness Month is direct: “It’s October Awareness Month, and I’m here to tell you that it could save your life, or it could save the life of someone you love.”
It is a timely reminder to know what is normal for your body, report any changes to your doctor and keep up with recommended screenings.
Elizabeth Hurley, 61, keeps one beauty product next to her kettle. It is a small habit, but it may be the easiest skincare routine you will ever stick to.
