While Kate Middleton may not be by Prince William’s side during his recent excursion to South Africa, the Prince of Wales has reassured the public that his wife is “doing really well” amid her recent health struggles.
The heir to the British throne was asked about Middleton’s condition while attending the annual Earthshot Prize awards in Cape Town solo. But rather than remaining tight-lipped about the mother of his three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9 and Prince Louis, 6, Prince William gushed over her resilience and strength throughout her difficult battle.
“She’s been amazing this whole year,” the former Duke of Cambridge shared. The 42-year-old added that Middleton “will be really keen to see tonight be a success”, in reference to the environmentalist-oriented ceremony, noting that “hopefully, she is watching tonight” and “cheering me on”.

Prince William attended the event with Australia’s Robert Irwin, the conservationist and son of late wildlife advocate Steve Irwin. Though he might be far from Kensington Palace, Prince William told the press that his daughter gave him a sweet farewell gift to remind him of home.
“Well, this is a relic, if you like, from a Taylor Swift concert that my daughter decided that she wanted to create a bracelet for,” he said of the handmade wristlet that spelt out ‘Papa’. “She gave it to me when I came away. So I promised that I’d wear it and try not to lose while I was out here,” he continued.

Despite Middleton remaining in England, the 42-year-old hasn’t shied away from completing her duties now that she’s well enough.
In October, the couple made their first appearance since Middleton revealed her successful chemotherapy treatment while hosting 16-year-old photographer and cancer patient, Liz Hatton, to tea at Windsor Castle. They were later spotted in Southport where they visited emergency responders and victims of the mass stabbing attack that occurred at a Taylor Swift-themed children’s dance class.
Though it’s unclear when Middleton will make her next outing, she stayed true to her promise to be “resolutely cheerful” for her children’s sake, even being spotted attending Prince Louis’ soccer match in an on-trend barn jacket.
