Halloween is upon us, and with it comes the thrilling opportunity to transform into someone (or something!) entirely different.
This year, why not ditch the expensive costume and let your makeup do the talking? Makeup artist Victoria Lyn, with a whopping 5.1 million TikTok followers (@victorialyn), chatted with GRAZIA to show all of you how to create show-stopping Halloween looks using products you probably already have in your makeup bag!
Lyn believes in the power of makeup to elevate any costume, and her approach is all about striking a balance between intricate details and accessibility. “I love creating glam looks that anyone can recreate without needing an entire kit of products,” she tells us. “Halloween is the best time to try a new look or be inspired by your favorite characters or movies. It’s so much fun!”
Here are three spellbinding Halloween makeup looks you can create at home, with the help of Lyn’s expert tips and tricks.
1. Bewitching Pinup Witch:
Channel your inner dark glam with this captivating Pinup Witch look (think classic pinup makeup with a touch of *spooky* enchantment).
“If you love full glam with a spooky vibe try this Pinup Witch Halloween Makeup look! I was inspired by classic pinup glam with witchy, dark elements!”
Here’s how to achieve it, From Victoria Lyn:
- Flawless Skin: Start with a smooth, matte base using a full-coverage foundation. A slight contour for cheekbones can add definition. The new e.l.f. Camo Liquid Bronzer & Contours were my go-to when creating this look.
- Bold Winged Eyeliner: For a classic pinup style, create a dramatic cat-eye with black liquid liner. Extend the wing for a sultry, enchanting effect! The Haus Labs Clear Cut Liquid Eyeliner is one of my favorites.
- Vintage Brows: Keep brows bold yet neatly shaped, with an arched style typical of pinup looks. You can simply enhance your natural brows with a tinted brow gel and pencil for this effect!
- Sultry Eyeshadow: Use dark shades, smokey grays, and metallic blacks. Add shimmer or glitter for a magical touch. The Colourpop Haunted Mansion Shadow Palette was so perfect for this look!
- Dramatic Lashes: Long, voluminous lashes are key for the pinup vibe. It’s Halloween so you can go dramatic with the falsies!
- Dark Red Lips: For a classic pinup, go for a deep red or burgundy lipstick. A matte or satin finish works best. I lined my lips first with a black lip liner, MAC Caviar Lip Pencil, then filled in with red liquid lipsticks.
- Rosy Blush: Apply a soft, rosy blush on the apples of the cheeks for a vintage flush. Benefit Cosmetics’ Chocolicious Cheeks holiday blush palette was perfect for this look.
- Hair Hack: Pair with classic pinup waves or a fun wig to transform your look!
2. Wednesday Addams:
Embrace the dark and mysterious with this Wednesday Addams-inspired Halloween makeup look, channeling Jenna Ortega’s chilling portrayal in the hit Netflix series.
“For a Wednesday Addams Halloween makeup look inspired by Jenna Ortega’s portrayal in the Netflix series, you’ll want to capture her dark, gothic essence while keeping the makeup subtle yet striking. The best part about this look — it’s a simple smokey eye and so soft goth.”
Here’s how to achieve it, From Victoria Lyn:
- Matte Skin: Start with a matte foundation for a ghostly, flawless base. Avoid any bronzer or warm tones — Wednesday’s complexion is porcelain-like so be sure to add some powder to set!
- Subtle Contour: Lightly contour the cheekbones with a cool-toned contour. Keep it minimal to maintain her understated yet sculpted look.
- Soft Smoky Eyes: Use a mix of cool grays and deep browns for a soft, smoky eye. Blend the shadows lightly along the crease and lower lash line. Avoid overly dramatic lines or winged eyeliner — this look is more subtle and moody. I used an eyeshadow palette by GXVE, which has the perfect shades for a soft goth look.
- Smudged Eyeliner: Apply black eyeliner along the upper and lower lash lines, but smudge it slightly for a lived-in, gothic effect rather than a clean line.
- Barely-There Lashes: Wednesday’s lashes are not overly dramatic. Keep mascara light, just enough to define the lashes without making them too bold. Since it’s Halloween, you could add some individual lashes for a more glam effect. I am loving Kiss press on lashes right now – you don’t need glue for them!
- Dark Lips: For Wednesday’s signature lip, choose a deep plum, berry, or oxblood shade. She wears MAC Nightmoth Lip Pencil with a lip balm over top in the Netflix series. Clinique Black Honey is a very close shade to this.
- Hair Hack: For the hair, pop on a wig or style yours into two braids. This look was inspired by what she’s wearing at the Rave’N Dance, so I pinned both braids across the crown to recreate her hairstyle!
3. Glam Kitty Cat:
This glam leopard cat look is *purrfect* for beginners or anyone short on time. It’s simple, fun, and perfect for a night of spooky festivities.

“For a glam Halloween look that’s simple and perfect for beginners, try this glam leopard cat!”
Here’s how to achieve it, From Victoria Lyn:
- Base Makeup: Keep it simple! You can use your favorite foundation, concealer, or powder to perfect and even out your base.
- Eyes: The eye makeup focuses on a classic black winged eyeliner to give a dramatic cat-eye effect. For this, I used a drugstore liner from Lottie London. Glitter is a MUST. I added Half Magic Beauty’s Glitterpuck in their new shade Cyber Diamond to the eyes and lips.
- Nose and Whiskers: A cute, drawn-on black cat nose adds to the Halloween theme! I used the same liquid liner to create the whiskers. Here’s a hack: Create the cat nose using a black liquid lipstick! It will last all night. My personal favorite is KVD Beauty Everlasting Hyperlight Liquid Lipstick in Black Briar.
- Lips: So easy! Simply fill in your top lip with black liquid lipstick.
- Accessories: I picked up the gloves and cat ears from CVS pharmacy. Claire’s always makes the cutest Halloween accessories!
- Hair Hack: The hair is voluminous with loose waves, adding to the glam element. You can curl and then tease your hair for a dramatic but GLAM effect! The bigger the hair, the better.
