Meghan Markle has reportedly written her own personal memoir, following in the footsteps of Prince Harry who published his explosive account, Spare, in January 2023. Rather than the novel immediately hitting shelves, however, royal experts have alleged the Duchess of Sussex plans to use the book as a form of retaliation should it ever be needed.
According to royal correspondent and commentator Jennie Bond, the 43-year-old’s version of events will “remain a potential weapon in her back pocket if she ever feels the need to seek some sort of revenge.” It’s been claimed that Markle has been quietly writing a “tell-all” for years, with the Montecito-based royal seemingly using the book as an avenue to speak her truth.
A source told the press back in August that the American Riviera Orchard founder has “the potential to make an absolute fortune and clear up a lot of questions”, adding that the talk within their circle is “to take the gloves off and do away with the diplomacy”.

It’s believed that Markle’s memoir will explain her mental health struggles and decision to step away as senior members of the royal family in further detail. Prince Harry elaborated on the circumstances surrounding their departure in Spare, with the 40-year-old making daming accusations towards his brother, Prince William, sister-in-law, Kate Middleton and father, King Charles III.
The insider alleged that “one option on the table is to go all-out with a big tell-all from [Markle] where she completely lays out her side of the story,” though this isn’t guaranteed. The Sussexes signed a lucrative four-book deal with Penguin Random House in 2021. So far, they have only published two novels through the partnership—Prince Harry’s Spare and Markle’s illustrative children’s story The Bench.
Markle herself has busied herself with projects since leaving The Firm, including launching her own lifestyle brand, helming two non-scripted limited series on Netflix, expanding her investment portfolio as a venture capitalist, embarking on tours to Nigeria and Colombia, producing a docuseries and finding a new home for her recently-defunct podcast, Archetypes.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are also reported to be the new owners of a European vacation home in Portugal, which sounds like the perfect location to write à la Colin Firth in Love Actually.
