The Best Dressed Stars at the 2022 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet
Celebrities brought their high-fashion A-game to this year's Critics Choice Awards. See every can't-miss style moment, below
Awards season is officially back in full swing after two years of virtual ceremonies and pared-down red carpets due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and stars are certainly making up for lost time stepping out in head-turning looks week after week. The latest stop-and-stare styles came on the 2022 Critics Choice Awards red carpet Sunday night. There were opulent capes (courtesy Mandy Moore), dramatic trains (we see you Serena Williams and Indya Moore) as well as risqué cutouts (Lady Gaga) and the always-fitting princess style ballgown (Elle Fanning). In fact, there were so many haute couture creations and standout suits, that tonight’s best dressed list is a long (but good!) one. Check out every can’t-miss moment, below.
Selena Gomez
The superstar, up for best actress in a comedy series for Only Murders in the Building, brought A-list actress-level style to the carpet in her custom Louis Vuitton red halter gown with long scarf that elongated into a train, plus Bucheron jewels.
Lady Gaga
Leave it to Lady Gaga to pull out a stop-and-stare style moment in her Gucci creation, featuring a lace high-neck and sleeves, a deep-cut neckline with black velvet cups, and yellow silk duchesse skirt and train with crystal embroidery. She paired it with equally eye-catching Tiffany & Co. diamond earrings and bracelet.
Ariana DeBose
The best support actress winner snagged this marigold strapless ballgown straight from the Carolina Herrera Fall 2022 runway and accessorized it with Chopard earrings and ring.
Halle Berry
Halle took to the carpet to show off a new ‘do, sporting lighter gray-blonde strands in her Dolce & Gabbana white sheer paneled bustier, worn with a black ribbon-adorned jacket and wide-leg pants.
Kristen Stewart
The actress shined in her spagetti-strap Dolce & Gabbana gown styled with a glam side-swept hairstyle.
Indya Moore
Talk about a dramatic train! The Pose star worked the carpet in her sequin Off-White plunging gown with high slit and elongated gold train, which she accessorized with Swarovski jewelry and Casadei heels.
Jodie Turner-Smith
Another major train moment came from Jodie Turner-Smith who looked regal in her teal Gucci one-shoulder asymmetrical gown with high ruffled neck, plus Bulgari jewels.
HoYeon Jung
The Squid Games star and model knew just how to work her embroidered Louis Vuitton flapper-esque gown with exaggerated hip detail on the carpet.
Elle Fanning
The actress shimmered in gold in her custom Oscar de la Renta strapless fit-and-flare tea-length gown, paired with Jimmy Choo heels.
Venus Williams and Serena Williams
The tennis champions just hit a (you guessed it!) grand slam with their coordinating silver looks, with Venus in a plunging Atelier Versace bodysuit with long panel skirt, plus matching platforms and Rodo clutch, while Serena wore a high-shine Atelier Versace gown with long side cape.
Will Smith & Jada Pinkett Smith
The pair gave off strong couple goals in their sharp and sleek looks. Will kept things dapper in a gray tuxedo with brown double-breasted vest and matching tie, while Jada looked statuesque in her strapless high-shine gown.
Jean Smart
Jean Smart sparkled like the winner she is (she won best actress in a comedy series for Hacks) in an ivory silk sablé crêpe sweater and skirt covered in silver sequins by Valentino Haute Couture, with a Rodo clutch.
Mandy Moore
The This Is Us star worked every angle of her caped Elie Saab gown, featuring pearl and crystal embellishment, plus a plunging neckline and chiffon silk and tulle panels, worn with Jimmy Choo heels.
Elizabeth Olsen
Elizabeth Olsen coordinated her plunging maroon velvet Giorgio Armani jumpsuit with a Cartier drop necklace featuring a matching ruby stone.
Issa Rae
Issa Rae was feeling florals in her printed Carolina Herrera halter style floral-printed gown, worn with a matching Rodo clutch.
Melissa McCarthy
Melissa McCarthy played with prints in her zig-zag pattern jumpsuit, accessorized with David Yurman jewels.
Andrew Garfield
Playing up his custom velvet Saint Laurent look with a subtle sparkly shimmer, Andrew Garfield teamed the suit with an Omega watch and David Yurman jewelry.
Kristen Wiig
The actress showed some major skin in her sheer Rodarte dress paired with black undergarments and Prasi jewelry.
Caitriona Balfe
Keeping it timeless, the Belfast star went with a beige-colored belted Dior Haute Couture strapless gown with Van Cleef & Arpels wreath necklace and drop earrings.
Rita Moreno
The Oscar winning-legend took to the carpet in a Greta Constantine gold and white gown featuring billowing ruffled puff sleeves, in a look similar to her Greta Constantine white and gold pantsuit worn two days earlier at the Directors Guild Awards.
Peyton List
GRAZIA USA‘s Los Angeles Gazette star mixed old school glamour with a high-fashion edge in her black velvet Yanina Couture gown with a “Queen Anne neckline,” cuffed sleeves and tear drop embroidery.
Jared Leto
In his usual fashion, Jared Leto forgoes a standard black tux for a cream-colored strong-shoulder Gucci suit with matching cummerbund, burgundy bow tie and silver shoes.
Zoey Deutch
Pink is the shade of the season and Zoey certainly popped in her Alexander McQueen gown with corset bodice and full tiered skirt, paired with Tiffany & Co. jewels.
Hannah Waddingham
The Ted Lasso star brought her character’s strong, sexy energy in her red carpet look, wearing a black bustier with highlighter green full ball skirt, with black platform pumps.
Bowen Yang
There’s nothing funny about how good the Saturday Night Live star looks in his black suit and wide-leg pant designed by Willie Norris for Outlier.
Kathryn Newton
Kathryn kept the focus on her plunging red gown, with her slicked back pony and simple drop necklace.
