For as long as we’ve known Rihanna, she’s proudly declared that she hails from the island of Barbados, so it only makes sense that she would receive National Hero status during the Republic’s Presidential inauguration ceremony. While the honor is an event within itself, Rihanna made sure to add an extra flare to her appearance with a gown that was bright and vibrant, a celebration of color and form, and of course it’s Bottega Veneta.
Yesterday, Queen Elizabeth II was officially removed as head of state of the new Republic of Barbados, granting the country independence from British Monarchal rule, with Dame Sandra Mason being sworn in as the Republic’s president. During the ceremony, Rihanna was given the title of National Hero, one of two who are alive today.
For the ceremony, Rihanna wore a tropical orange Bottega Veneta tasseled halterneck gown. The fabric offered sheen and light, with a mixing of textures which were natural and matte seen in the tassel. She matched the gown with a pair of strappy brown pumps that continued the theme of bare skin against the vibrant dress.
With a fluid silhouette and a ankle-length hem, this gown was the perfect mix of casual and formal, a look that Rihanna has become known for since her appearance at this year’s Met Gala in a Balenciaga Couture blanket/ gown transitional outfit.
