Once upon a fashion week, models were sent down the runway with a singular beauty look. But trends have since evolved, and the industry has slowly acknowledged the fact that often, one look does not suit nor compliment every different skin and hair type — so we’re seeing more and more variation within a single show.
Jil Sander’s Spring 2022 show overnight in Milan (one of the first to return to the Italian fashion capital this season) was the perfect delineation of individual style, especially in the context of hair.
Each model went down the runway with a unique style — an edit of saveable, covetable ponytails, crops, braids and bends. It was the kind of rich girl hair people just ‘wake up with’ — styled but not overdone, glossy but not stiff, expertly but undetectably coloured and cut in a way that embraced natural texture.
There were soft waves pulled loosely into ponytails at the nape of the neck, thick braids looped into a bun and pixie crops that brought out natural bone structure.

Paired with natural skin, the odd smudge or aubergine shadow and little more than a slick of clear lip balm, the entire beauty look was simplicity personified.
