Seems like Louis Vuitton is on a space exploration kick following its recent Cruise 2022 show. Now, there have been reports of a ULVO (Unidentified Louis Vuitton Object) coming on July 30 that’s catching the attention of fashion enthusiasts across the world. But you’re in luck, unidentified no longer; we’ve nailed down just precisely what this otherworldly object is. It’s the french luxury brand’s new Horizon Light Up speaker.

With flashing lights and a saucer shape, there’s no wonder this speaker naturally gets mistaken for an alien spacecraft. Although it looks extraterrestrial, the design was modeled after Louis Vuitton’s Toupie handbag, designed by the house’s womenswear artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière. Its metal body is covered with panels of logo-embossed leather, giving the exterior the quintessential LV look.

It seems the spacecraft, I mean speaker, has a message it’s trying to communicate to us. The glowing lights around the rim read “L-O-U-I-S-V-U-I-T-T-O-N” and show off the iconic monogram flower. To keep the object somewhat practical, it also comes with a dock to emit music in 360 degrees. The audio device also comes with a removable leather strap for your wrist when you’re taking it on the go, reimagining the modern-day accessory.

Louis Vuitton merges its heritage of fashion with technology to challenge what a portable speaker should look like, a goal in which it undoubtedly has succeeded. The Horizon Light Up speaker goes unquestionably down on my list of luxury things I didn’t know I needed — but absolutely must have now.
