dua lipa and callum turner

Italy remains the ultimate wedding destination for the rich, the famous, and everyone dreaming of a celebration straight out of a movie. Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez chose Venice as the backdrop to their lavish multi-million-dollar wedding in 2025. Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi hosted a romantic Tuscan celebration in 2024, while Ed Westwick and Amy Jackson also opted for the Amalfi Coast for their destination wedding.

Dua Lipa and Callum Turner, however, took a different route. After exchanging vows at London’s Old Marylebone Town Hall on May 31, Dua Lipa dressed in custom Schiaparelli couture, the newlyweds headed to Sicily to celebrate with friends and family.

Of course, we expected nothing less from the internet’s beloved “Vacanza Queen.” The singer’s Instagram feed is a carefully curated collection of enviable escapes, from Copenhagen and the South of France to South Africa, making her one of the most convincing ambassadors for the art of holidaying.

No, we’re not jealous. We just wish we could keep up.

Inside Dua Lipa and Callum Turner’s Sicilian Wedding

While Lake Como and Tuscany have become the go-to destinations for celebrity weddings, Sicily feels refreshingly different—more dramatic, more authentic, and perfectly suited to the singer’s effortlessly cool aesthetic.

The couple arrived in Palermo, Sicily’s vibrant capital, over the weekend of June 5–7. Soon after, their nearest and dearest joined them for the festivities. Guests reportedly included Elton John, who serenaded the couple with his iconic hit Your Song, as well as Charli XCX, Olivia Dean, and a host of close friends and family.

The celebrations began with a welcome party in Palermo, hosted between the iconic Villa Igiea and Piazza Croce dei Vespri. Guests enjoyed an evening of Sicilian hospitality before heading into the wedding weekend’s main event.

The following day, celebrations moved to Villa Valguarnera, an extraordinary 18th-century Baroque estate located just outside Palermo. Around 300 guests attended the festivities, which reportedly featured a menu showcasing Sicilian cuisine, traditional Italian desserts, and an evening of dancing that continued long into the night. As expected, the celebrations concluded with a spectacular fireworks display overlooking the estate.

Villa Valguarnera: Sicily’s Most Romantic Aristocratic Estate

If there was ever a venue worthy of a pop-star wedding, Villa Valguarnera would be it.

Built in 1712 for Princess Marianna Valguarnera, one of Sicily’s most influential noblewomen, the villa is considered one of the finest examples of Sicilian Baroque architecture. Designed by architect Tommaso Maria Napoli, the estate sits dramatically on a hillside overlooking the Gulf of Palermo, surrounded by centuries-old gardens, terraces, and sweeping sea views.

Unlike many historic Italian villas that have been extensively modernized, Villa Valguarnera retains much of its original grandeur. Its elegant salons, frescoed interiors, monumental staircases, and ornate architectural details transport visitors directly into the world of Sicilian aristocracy.

Over the years, the villa has become a favorite setting for filmmakers, fashion houses, and photographers seeking a quintessentially Italian backdrop. Dolce & Gabbana famously chose the estate as the location for a perfume campaign starring Sophia Loren, further cementing its status as one of Italy’s most cinematic properties.

What makes Villa Valguarnera particularly special, however, is its sense of timelessness. Perched between the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, it captures the romantic, sun-drenched spirit of Sicily in a way few venues can. For a couple known for their impeccable style and love of travel, it feels like the perfect place to begin married life.
