Is one of Hollywood’s most talented actresses, Zendaya, coming to the UAE? We’d have to say there’s a strong possibility the answer is yes.

The actress could be making a quick stop in the UAE to promote the second installment of the dystopian fantasy fiction Dune, part of which was filmed in Abu Dhabi’s Liwa desert.

After the huge success of the first instalment, which garnered the movie receiving multiple nominations and securing six awards at the 94th Oscars. And, now for Dune: Part Two, there will be a regional premiere for the film in Abu Dhabi.

It’s been confirmed director Denis Villeneuve will be joining stars Josh Brolin and Dave Bautista on the red carpet at Vox Cinemas at The Galleria, Al-Maryah Island. However, the question remains if all the cast will be in attendance including Zendaya.

Being filmed in nearly 20 locations in the Liwa Desert, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the UAE capital would be chosen as a location for the latest premiere. Mohamed Dobay, Creative Media Authority’s acting director general stated, “Hosting the Middle East premiere of Dune: Part Two is an honour for Abu Dhabi and is also a reflection of the position the emirate holds as one of MENA’s (Middle East and North Africa’s) top film and TV locations.”

The movie puts the Middle Eastern region and its stunning sights at the forefront of the movie while also including regional talents during its filming.

“We were delighted to support (Denis) Villeneuve’s epic adaptations of the novel ‘Dune’ and to provide around 20 Liwa desert locations as Arrakis,” said Sameer Al-Jaberi, the head of ADFC. “Combining expert on-the-ground knowledge, location diversity, highly experienced local talent and know-how, competitive rebate and world-class facilities, a premiere moment really does provide the opportunity for all of our partners and service providers to see the culmination of all our efforts, not to mention showcase to future international productions on the ease of bringing their vision to life in Abu Dhabi.”

While it’s still unsure if Zendaya and her co-stars including Timothee Chalamet and Florence Pugh, will be making a grand appearance at Abu Dhabi’s red carpet, we know for sure that her performance in the movie will be one to watch.

The official movie release date is set for February 29, 2024 in the UAE and Lebanon and will be released on April 11, 2024 in other parts of the region.
