When he began dating Kourtney Kardashian back in 2017, Younes Benjima landed on the front covers of multiple magazines and caught the attention of many netizens. The two shared an on-and-off relationship for a year before they finally called it quits in 2018. But that wasn’t the only reason why he rose to fame; aside from the fact that he dated one of the most popular members of the Kardashian clan, here’s everything you didn’t know about Younes Bendjima.

Starting with his background, Bendjima is of Algerian descent but was born and raised in Lyon, France. According to his interview with Vogue, he worked at his father’s restaurant before he started his journey as a model and discovered his passion for boxing. In the same interview with Vogue Man Arabia, he shared that he started boxing when he was only 11 years old, “I started boxing at the age of 11 with my uncle who is still my trainer today. I started because I had so much energy I needed a place to work on it without spending money, which I didn’t have.”

After moving to New York in 2011, he made his modelling debut for Givenchy in 2013 and has posed for major luxury brands like Dior, Balmain, Burberry, and Ralph Lauren ever-since. Earlier this year, he starred in the Dior Homme campaign and expressed gratitude for the opportunity with an Instagram caption that wrote: “I am so Grateful and Honoured to be part of the last Dior Homme Campaign. Dior Beauty invited me to share my passion for boxing for the launch of the New Dior Homme Sport Fragrance. This video shows my Spiritual Connection through my Training Routine. Dreams come true when you dont sleep.”

He collaborated with the well-known brand New Balance to launch his own shoe design in 2020, and it remains a fan favourite.

Today, he is known for his LA-based creative agency, Studio FY7, that focuses on creative direction, production and art. Even though he has not been to Algeria in a long time and has spent most of his time away from his homeland, it is evident from his work and various interviews that the the model values his cultural, religious and traditional practices a lot.
