Princess Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz, 47, was born in Santa Barbara, California, United States, on December 26, 1975.

Growing up in California, she developed a passion for reading fashion magazines from a young age. Her frequent travels between the US and Saudi Arabia due to her father’s job as an economist as well as a university professor at several American universities, exposed her to an array of different cultures, which fuelled her passion for fashion seen through different lenses. In particular, a young Deena found herself immersed in the world of fashion photography and was especially inspired by icons such as Peter Lindbergh and Horst P. Horst.

A Royal Princess

Before marrying HRH Prince Sultan bin Fahad bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz of the House of Saud in 1998, Princess Deena met him in London at a Harrods stall during a break from their studies. At the time, she was studying at a Saudi university focusing on translating, while the Prince was based at an American university.

Prince Sultan, a talented artist and collector, shares her passion for the creative industry. Their combined presence at regional and international fashion events makes them a standout royal couple.

A Podcaster

With her extensive media experience, Princess Deena’s fervour for fashion led her to create a new podcast, DeenaThe1st. Through this platform, she aims to change Western perceptions of Arab fashion.

The podcast features engaging episodes, including interviews with her daughter Maya and Beka Gvishiani, the man behind the popular Instagram fashion page, STYLE NOT COM.

Christian Louboutin, her longtime close friend, designed a line of the popular red sole heels named the “Deena Pump” in her honour.
