Thomas Lélu, the infamous contemporary artist known for his distinctive humour and his particular penmanship, is making his way to Dubai.
You may have come across his iconic slogans on your feed or heavily related to its message on the FYP.
“I have no idea what I’m doing out of bed.” “I miss your stupid face.” “It’s me and my four hours of sleep against the world.” “Sometimes all you need is $500 million dollars.” To name a few.
Wherever you may have stumbled on his witty, artful phrases, the French artist is now set to make a mark in the Middle East with an upcoming exhibition in Dubai slated to run from April 17 to June 14, 2025.
Taking place at Zidoun-Bossuyt Gallery in Umm Suqeim, the artist will inaugurate his solo exhibition titled “Calm Down It’s Just Art.”
Cementing his hallmark of works in the region, the two-month exhibition will showcase Lélu’s practice, combining photography, art, and textual elements with pop culture and lifestyle themes.
While many know him for his comically insinuated texts on social media, this exhibition will show the Paris-based artist’s take on contemporary art.
It will feature his intentional metaphors, which he has created and compiled through his meticulous process of exploring various mediums and words.
In the coming exhibition, you can expect no less of his artistic finesse, using just the staple pen and paper and other rudimentary tools to create a fusion of art.
