As our taxi pulls up at Cove Beach, staff in masks and gloves are waiting to direct you to the temperature checkpoint in reception, from there you’re pointed down the stairs to the beach and restaurant area (staff keep their distance as much as possible by directing rather than accompanying).
We first arrive at the stunning al fresco spot Restaurant TWO.0 – which sits looking out to the sea and serves modern, mediterranean-inspired dishes. All tables are separated by the required two meters and sanitiser is on erm hand. Drinks are served in plastic pint cups – which isn’t pretty, but safety is the order of the day here.

The octopus salad, sautéed prawns, roasted baby chicken, fresh grilled fish and king crab salad were equally delicious, followed by the magnificent beetroot red cheesecake. Between courses we were offered sanitiser, and even a finger bowl with fresh lemon at the end of the meal.

On the beach things are just as safety conscious, the mask is required to go back on until you get to your lounger but then you can keep it off on the beach – bliss.
Guests are required to bring their own towels to stop any chance of double handling. If you forget your towel, you can purchase one of the Cove’s stylish branded ones from the gift shop and take it home as a memento of the day.

All in all, Cove Beach Dubai are very much erring on the side of caution, which is just fine because in a setting like this you feel like you’re a million miles away from the problems of the world and safe and sound in your own little paradise.
Look out for their spectacular Ladies Day deal on Tuesdays Dhs149, which includes unlimited rose wine, pink gin and a food platter with beach access. The platter includes sushi, salads, mini burgers and fries.
