Undoubtedly, we can all agree that the DIFC has become the hub of food, from its fine dining to its unique yet diverse selection of cuisines. Making the DIFC area our go-to for a fun night out, and they’ve done it again by creating a home for one of Dubai’s most beloved restaurants Shanghai-Me. A traditional Asian cuisine, taking us on a journey through the majestic yet tropical jungles of Asia, allowing the travel of time and flavours to begin.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a hostess wearing the most charming traditional Asian ensemble. We decided to order from the iftar menu, and by one glance could tell we were in for a tasty yet satisfying meal.

Cucumber & Avocado Salad

After ordering a variety of plates, it felt like no plate was dissatisfying. Each dish was infused with exquisite flavours, especially the Sesame Prawns on Toast and the Cucumber & Avocado Salad – simple yet divine. However, the stand out was the tacos, from its crunchy yet redefined taste to its tender meat, refreshing guacamole and extremely crispy taco dough – I couldn’t get enough. Along with the Sweet & Sour Prawns, and as a prawn-lover myself, these were exceptionally good.

Sesame Prawns on Toast

We ordered a Milk Cake with Sesame Ice Cream for dessert, accompanied by Black sesame ice cream, fruit jam, and a milky sauce. No words can explain how utterly fluffy, light and perfectly made this cake was – it was remarkable.

Without a doubt, we can say it has one of the best Iftar menus around. Even after finishing our meal, the waiter had kindly offered if we would like to leave with a doggy bag, in order to, and I quote, “continue the experience at home”, and that’s the true magic of this restaurant, to live a culinary experience.

Shanghai-Me is one of the very few restaurants creating a weekly iftar menu, tailoring it to the needs of their customers, recreated weekly by their very talented Chef Shane Macneill. If you are an Asian food lover or looking for your next innovative cuisine, Shanghai-Me should be on your list of restaurants to visit in the city.

The Ramadan Iftar Menu is at 245AED from sunset until 8:30PM.
