The Park Hyatt Dubai is home to the newly opened Twiggy by La Cantine; the Mediterranean restaurant everyone in the city is flocking to. Bustling beach club by day and restaurant by night, Twiggy by La Cantine sits alongside (and above) the 100-metre infinity pool overlooking Dubai Creek and its magnificent skyscraper-lined shores. Twiggy by La Cantine is named after the iconic 60s supermodel and has abstract art providing pops of colour to azure blues and white linens. In its own words, the restaurant is “bringing Riviera reverie to Dubai” and we couldn’t agree more.

Twiggy by La Cantine’s main restaurant

The extensive menu had us spoiled for choice; we ultimately decided not to order sushi and sample Twiggy’s Mediterranean dishes instead. We warmed up with wagyu beef carpaccio, foie gras terrine and the sautéed gambas with eggplant and burrata. The terrine was a wonderful introduction and prepped our taste buds for the bold flavours to come. We almost fell out of our elegantly decorated booth when the generous portion of carpaccio arrived and were equally as flabbergasted upon tasting it – the perfectly sliced wagyu (not paper thin as we have unfortunately become accustomed to) came adorned with parmesan shavings; we would confidently declare it one of the best carpaccio dishes we have ever had anywhere. The sautéed gambas was the highlight of the evening – the shrimp, eggplant and creamy burrata came buried in a hearty, deeply flavourful tomato sauce, which we happily mopped up with bread. A perfect dish for a colder-than-usual Dubai night.

For mains we tucked into lobster cannelloni and linguine alle vongole (that’s clams to non-Italian speaking folks). The portions are on the smaller side which took us by surprise although we were quite full after devouring the starters and enough bread to feed a small army. The cannelloni was full to the brim of juicy lobster while the linguine came entangled with an abundance of clams; its strong flavours make it one for seafood lovers.

The view from the restaurant is particularly stunning at night

We ended our meal with the lemon meringue tarte which was – you guessed it – tart. The gooey lemon filling was absolutely delicious and was topped with a soft meringue that had even the non-dessert-loving individuals at our table repeatedly going back for more (PSA: Get one each – don’t share).

Twiggy by La Cantine’s beautiful décor, panoramic views and delicious Mediterranean cuisine makes it a top contender for one of the best date-night spots in the city and definitely one to bring out-of-towners in the cooler months. Whether you dine on the sun-drenched terrace after a day poolside or make your way down for dinner, an evening at Twiggy by La Cantine is an evening well spent.
