‘It’ girl Sofia Richie has announced her engagement to her boyfriend of a year, Elliot Grainge. Richie, 23, confirmed the news on Instagram with the words, “Forever isn’t long enough”, and showing off her huge diamond ring.
Los Angeles-based music executive Grainge also posted about the pair’s engagement, captioned, “She said yes ❤️❤️❤️”. The happy couple celebrated with Sofia’s sister, Nicole Richie, who offered her congratulations via the tongue-in-cheek quip, “Can’t wait to find ways to make this about me”.
While Richie has posted Grainge – the founder of music label, 10K Projects – on social media, not much is known about her fiancé. Like Sofia, who is the daughter of singer Lionel Richie, he comes from music industry royalty: Grainge’s father is Lucian Grange, the chairman and chief executive of Universal Music Group.
Richie and Grainge’s relatively low-key romance is a contrast the very public relationship Richie had with her ex-boyfriend Scott Disick, which played out on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Though Richie’s appearances were only brief, she was mentioned a lot and her name was caught up in the drama over Disick’s his on-again, off-again romance with ex-girlfriend, Kourtney Kardashian. To recap, Richie and Disick, 38, broke up in March last year, with Disick claiming Richie had given him an ultimatum. “She was like, ‘I don’t want to share you as a boyfriend with Kourtney.’ And then she literally said with an ultimatum, ‘You have to choose: Me or Kourtney,'” Disick said on KUWTK. “Life gets really weird when you’re living with someone, and your world just gets so small,” he continued. “It definitely did create a problem between Sofia and I and I think we kind of saw some things in each other that weren’t us being on the same page,” Disick added, referring to this then-close relationship with Kardashian, with whom he shares three children.
Of course, Kardashian and Disick ended their relationship in 2015, and Kardashian is, of course, now engaged to drummer Travis Barker. Disick is dating British model Rebecca Donaldson. And Richie appears to be happy to be out of that love triangle – or is it a square? – for good.
