In remembrance of the remarkable life and influential career of Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, a tribute concert presented by the esteemed Nehki Falastini is taking place. The event will take place at American University in Dubai on Saturday, May 20th, at 8:00 pm. This heartfelt gathering aims to celebrate Shireen’s immense contributions while cherishing her favourite songs.

Headlining the tribute concert is the exceptionally talented Palestinian-American artist, Lina Makoul. She will enchant the audience with a special music program, which includes Shireen’s most beloved songs, as well as her own compositions. Lina will perform a poignant piece composed exclusively for this occasion, utilising Shireen’s voice to create a unique tribute.

Sharing the stage with Lina is musician Kamal Musallam. In a touching homage to his dear classmate Shireen, Kamal will deliver a remarkable music performance dedicated to her memory. Together, Lina and Kamal will create an unforgettable atmosphere that celebrates the life and accomplishments of Shireen Abu Akleh. The tribute concert commences with a soul-stirring performance by the talented voices of ‘One Harmony’ from the Tania Kassis Academy in Dubai.

Celebrity news anchor Mohammad Abu Obeid will be in attendance to share his extensive experience in journalism, offering insights into the challenges he has faced throughout his career. His presence adds a valuable perspective to the event, enhancing the appreciation for Shireen’s dedication.

This extraordinary evening is made possible through the collaboration of Nehki Falastini, founded by the visionary Mayssoun Azzam, and Ghida Halaby, the leader of the Dubai Reading Community DXBOOKLOVE.

Prior to the show, starting at 6:00 pm, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the Palestine-themed design souk, curated by Neveen ElKady, Balchi, Yasmina Adra, and featuring the special edition Madeena the Doll from Jordan. Additionally, a selection of food stalls, including Yava Dubai, Kaak al Manara, Mishkah Olive Cafe, and The Broth Lab will be on-site, providing attendees with an array of fresh and delectable meals.
