Her Highness Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is continuing to embrace her mixed heritage – and she’s ensuring she passes on this pride to her daughter, Mahra, named after her.
In a recent outing, the Emirati princess shared a series of new photos to her 325,000 followers getting in touch with her Greek roots as she met with Antonis Alexandris, the Greek ambassador based in Dubai.
In-keeping with their shared Greek heritage, the pair met at The Warehouse, a local Greek restaurant specialising in authentic cuisine.
During the special meeting, the ambassador cradled newborn Mahra. Joining Sheikha Mahra, baby Mahra and the Greek ambassador was the Dubai princess’ mother, Zoe Grigorakos, who hails from Greece, as well as Chef Sperxos, the founder of the restaurant.
“It was an [honour] meeting the Greek ambassador Mr. Antonis Alexandridis,” Sheikha Mahra wrote, also the award-winning chef for a fine dining experience.
Since 2022, Antonis has graced the UAE handling ministry affairs. So needless to say, a quick visit to the neighbourly Greek-inspired restaurant at Al Quoz, was imminent for the UAE royal and Greek ambassador.
Who is Sheikha Mahra’s mother, Zoe Grigorakos?
Her Highness is no stranger to celebrating her mixed heritage.
Born to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Zoe Grigorakos, Sheikh Mahra has both Emirati and Greek roots.
It’s not know when the princess’ parents married, but Sheikha Mahra was born in 1994. The pair eventually divorced, but Zoe appears to still reside in the UAE as she is seen out and about with her daughter often.
Sheikha Mahra shares a strong familial bond with her Greek side from her mother’s ancestry. Always in her photos, the Dubai Sheikha constantly uploads moments with her mother, Zoe, as seen on her Instagram feed.
Holidaying in Greece
Her Highness married Sheikh Mana Al Maktoum last year in June 2023 and for their honeymoon, the royal couple holidayed in Greece together on the idyllic island of Mykonos.
The duo shared pictures from their holiday on the Greek island of Mykonos. They enjoyed time at the pristine beaches of Greece, enjoyed a ride on a jet ski, and indulged in local cuisine at the popular restaurant Nammos.
