Her Highness Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has confirmed her engagement to Moroccan-American rapper French Montana.
The Dubai princess took to Instagram to share the news, posting a dazzling shot of a diamond ring that left little room for speculation, and tagging the rapper in a move that made their union official in the eyes of the world.
According to People magazine, the 40-year-old proposed to the Princess of Dubai two months ago.
“Representatives confirm that while wedding plans are underway, specific dates and arrangements are still being finalised by both families, who are reportedly excited and supportive,” a press release shared with the outlet reportedly stated.
The pair were first seen together in Dubai last year when French Montana was visiting the emirate. Sheikha Mahra shared a series of photos of herself spending time with the rapper, although it was assumed at the time that they were just friends.
The couple went public with their romance in June at Paris Fashion Week, when they were both photographed holding hands out and about in the French capital.
Sheikha Mahra moves on after her divorce
For Sheikha Mahra, the engagement marks a new beginning.
The Sheikha, who is the daughter of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai and Vice President of the UAE, was previously married to His Highness Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum.
The couple wed in June 2023 in a lavish ceremony in Dubai. They went on to welcome their first and only child together, a daughter.
Sheikha Mahra gave birth on May 2, 2024. Sharing an Instagram story, Sheikh Mana revealed his wife, Sheikha Mahra, had given birth. The baby girl is named after her mother with the same moniker, Mahra.
However, just a mere two months later, Sheikha Mahra declared she was divorcing her husband.
The official Instagram account of Sheikha Mahra shared a post on July 16, 2024, announcing her “divorce” from Sheikh Mana in an explosive Instagram post.
The Emirati princess wrote a short statement posted to her grid, appearing to be directed to her then-husband.
The post read: “Dear Husband, As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce. I divorce you. I divorce, and I divorce you. Take care. Your ex-wife.”
