During the premiere episode of the new Hulu series The Kardashians, Scott Disck opened up about the status of his relationship with his long-time ex Kourtney Kardashian — and how he’s coping with her now being engaged to Travis Barker.
Disick and Kardashian, who dated on and off for nearly a decade before breaking up for good in 2015, share three children: Mason, 12, Penelope, 9, and Reign, 7. When Kardashian and Barker began sharing their relationship online, he famously sent another of her ex-boyfriends, Younes Bendjima, a shady message about the couple’s PDA, showing he was clearly upset by the romance.
Of course, since then Kardashian and Barker have gotten engaged. News which, at the time, prompted many to think of Disick. Thankfully, it appears he’s adjusted to the situation and seeing his ex in a serious relationship has allowed him to finally close that door.
“Now that Kourtney’s got her life with Travis, as hard as it is, it does give me a place to finally be able to move on,” he said while talking to Khloé Kardashian, adding that until Barker, the family would always reassure him he’d end up with his ex again. “I always had her friends or our family in my ear kind of like, ‘Don’t worry, honey, eventually you guys will figure it out,’” he said. “And, ‘You’ll get back together one day.’ So my foot was always halfway in the door.”
But while Disick has come to terms with losing Kardashian in a romantic sense, he said he’s still struggling with feeling “left out” by the rest of the family, who have been inviting him to fewer family gatherings so he doesn’t have to see Kardashian and Barker together.
“Feeling left out and not being told anything is super hurtful, especially when I don’t have another family to go to,” he said. “I’d rather be around [Kourtney and Travis] and be around my family than not at all.”
Disick also said he’s mourning the friendship he once had with Kardashian, as they haven’t been as close since she became serious with Travis.
“It was a huge adjustment losing Kourtney romantically, but now it’s becoming a huge adjustment losing her as a best friend. Now we’re really just more co-parents. I’d say it’s probably one of the more difficult things in my life.”
Disick too appears to have now moved on, appearing on the red carpet for the show’s premiere with his new girlfriend, 27-year-old model Rebecca Donaldson.
