Rihanna’s fourth Savage X Fenty show just landed on Prime Video, but with little fanfare. After the controversial announcement that Johnny Depp would be making a guest appearance, fans were divided. Were we excited for what is essentially the new, inclusive iteration of the Victoria’s Secret show? Or hesitant now one of the most controversial figures of 2022 was involved?

It’s a damn shame Rihanna included Depp, because without him the show is strong – stronger, actually. Depp appears midway, walking for around a minute with little to no energy. He looks around in a bewildered fashion, then hugs a tree. That’s it. That’s the appearance. We couldn’t even tell if he was wearing Savage X Fenty pieces.

It’s a stark contrast the the high-impact, all-attitude pace and tone of the rest of the show. Rihanna, of course, makes an appearance – emerging from the mythical forest setting to none other than A$AP Rocky’s ‘D.M.B’.

But it isn’t just Rihanna with the electric energy. Everyone brings it – you’ve got Joan Smalls being carried by crouched men through the forest.

Everyone brought their A-game and in contrast, Depp seemed unsure if he was even meant to be there – or what he was actually doing.

Enough about Depp – let’s talk about Brazilian woman-of-the-moment Anitta, who stole the show in our opinion with a performance of ‘Practice’, wearing head-to-toe fishnet and bondage leather.

Also worth a mention on the music front? Soul legend Maxwell bringing things down a level and delivering a gorgeous performance of his 1996 hit ‘Whenever Wherever Whatever’.

On the fashion front, Rihanna has designed an incredible collection that puts velvet and silk at the forefront, with plenty of nods to corsetry and bondage.

For menswear, oversized silk boxing shorts and velvet shrugs were the highlights.

We’re also going to need this velvet gown.

In great news, the collection is already shoppable via Amazon. You can pick up your favourite pieces here.
