Its’s been a riveting week of revelations regarding the status of content creators Salama Mohamed and Khalid Al Ameri’s marriage. In a YouTube interview with Emirati presenter Nour Aldin, Salama shared that the couple are now officially divorced, putting an end to months-long speculation.

Released on Monday, part one of the interview came just days after Khalid shocked fans by announcing his new relationship and engagement, less than a year after the former couple deleted their joint Instagram account.

Speaking on camera, Salama revealed that the split from Khalid, which occurred earlier this year, has afforded her a sense of freedom and liberation she has never experienced before. “Sometimes divorce if merciful. I was reborn on that day,” the mother of two said. “For the first time, Salama’s life wasn’t dependent on anyone. Before marriage, I was dependent on my family. After marriage, I was dependent on my husband. But now as an independent person, it’s the first time that I know Salama,” she affirmed.

The content creator also shared that she believes she and Khalid may be eternally linked.

“…With my previous partner, he is the father of my kids, there’s always a connection there, maybe an ethereal connection. Maybe it’s the time that we spent together, I don’t exactly know. But in the end, his happiness affects my happiness. His success affects my success. His sadness affects my sadness. I always pray for him,” she said.

On Wednesday, part two of the interview was released on YouTube, which saw Salama getting even more vulnerable. After a lengthy discussion regarding her mental health and wellbeing, Nour then presses Salama on who she would love to have tell her that they are proud of her.

Salama paused tentatively before answering that she is proud of herself. “I would thank myself,” she affirmed. “Thanks to my body for enduring a lot. Thanks to my soul. Thanks to every part of body that endures and makes me stand here today,” she says. She then goes on to to say that the “ship has already sailed” when it comes to having someone else tell her that they are proud of her, but it would mean the world to her to if her two children, Khalifa and Abdulla, whom she shares with Khalid, would one day say it.
