It’s no surprise that Safa Al Juboori and Mohammed Kiswani are coined as the “golden couple.” Since their first days in the pods to their wedding, the Love Is Blind, Habibi stars have quickly grabbed the attention of regional and international fans for their undeniable chemistry.
With many asking the question of whether or not the couple decided to push through their new-found admiration for each other, fans of the show were quick to applaud when finding out their relationship has been strong since after the filming wrapped last year.
So much so, that in the reunion episode, they gleefully mentioned they would be celebrating their first anniversary and have moved in together ever since.
But with marriage life, it’s no feat that trials and tribulations are scored along the way. Recently appeared in a podcast hosted by Hikmat, the pair openly discussed how life has been as a married couple after the pods-romance experiment. From stories of jealousy to navigating life into stardom, Safa and Mohammed get candid about their relationship.
When asked about the chances a person can change, Safa explained her perspective on how the whole pods experience can alter perception, “I didn’t get to know Mohammed in the pods as much as I got to know him during the days after,” she said. Even mentioned that there were traits that weren’t fully revealed in the pods and after the show, “The pods didn’t really show how funny he really is or how charismatic he can be,” Safa explains.
She further expressed that during their first few months of marriage, changes and knowing more about the latter were inevitable in their dynamic as a couple. “Considering our age and we promptly lived alone, it was really tough,” Safa declares. “But gradually, because we love each other, we compromised a lot, especially on simpler things.”
Even noted they had to sit down a couple of times on “major things”, but that only proved their maturity and communication abilities to fortify their bond. Safa stated that because of their open communication, they’re able to understand what exactly the root problem is. “The good thing about being older and mature is that you understand why it’s happening. Since we grew up in different Arab regions and our upbringing was different, we had to ask each other, ‘How do you weigh things?’ with every problem we go through.”
With their open communication proving their healthy relationship, sometimes talking about the past isn’t always the best thing to discuss. “I didn’t think I was a jealous person,” said Safa as she talked about how her jealousy with Mohammed’s previous relationships. She candidly opened up that she regretted ever asking about it, and Mohammed vehemently regretted answering too. “I thought I could open up about my past relationships since we were starting a new chapter,” Mohammed stated. “But that was a mistake,” he laughed.
Nevertheless, the couple managed through their way of navigating their personalities and values. Mohammed openly talked about his reflection on their rapport as a couple, he stated, “We had a lot of problems initially, and we had to learn. There were tons of misunderstandings [I wouldn’t call them problems] but she taught me how to deal with things.”
Safa kept it real too about what she learned in their growing relationship, “We’re both fire signs, so we’re both very stubborn,” she jokingly said. “Whenever I get upset, I do shout—which caused a bit of tension. But he taught me how to be calm.”
With both stars currently in pursuit of more, on the road to stardom and their professional careers, they also touched base on their plans to have children. “I don’t think we’re ready yet.” Mohammed honestly mentioned. “Her work plays a vital role, so we need to settle things down first, and have a solid plan.”
As the pair continues to revolve around their new-found life as celebrities, fans of the two have only grown more interested in their relationship, their communication and most of all their maturity— which seems to be a favourite amongst the fanbase.
