Choosing to announce her first pregnancy by dropping one of the most iconic baby bump photoshoots in celebrity history, complete with a vintage pink Chanel coat, baggy jeans and bejewelled baby bump, was just the beginning of Rihanna’s maternity-wear world takeover.
Since then, the Fenty founder has singlehandedly redefined pregnancy style, stepping out in sexy Coperni crop tops, see-through Dior dresses, full-sequin cut-out looks by The Attico and KNWLS mini dresses. But proving there’s also a softer side to her aesthetic, today Rihanna was spotted wearing beloved British brand, Simone Rocha.
Though Rocha is known for her signature sense of subversive femininity, seen in the way she matches tulle and frills with more gothic-inspired tones and cuts, Rihanna didn’t choose one of the designer’s expected darker pieces to fit with her recent nightlife-themed maternity looks. Instead, she lent completely into baby pink, lace and tiered frills, opting for a mid-length, floaty baby doll dress while walking with her partner A$AP Rocky.
To give the piece some of her signature street style, Rihanna paired the dress with sneakers – a pair of colourful Union Air Jordan 4 SP “Guava Ice” trainers, to be exact – pink statement glasses to match, adding pink lip gloss, too, and layered gold chains around her neck. All in all another gorgeous, albeit less sexy, pregnancy look.
Though neither Rocky nor Rihanna have commented on the matter, many are assuming the parents-to-be recently got engaged after photos showed Rihanna out shopping for babywear in Los Angeles with a large diamond ring on that finger.
According to a TMZ report, however, the singer has been spotted multiple times over the past year wearing the same ring, but this is the first time she’s worn it on her left ring finger. She was initially spotted with it on her index finger during a music video shoot with Rocky in July 2021, and she wore it on her middle finger when she was named the 11th National Hero of Barbados in November 2021:
Perhaps the proposal happened a while ago and Rih’s just now ready to reveal it to the world? Or in very on-brand fashion, perhaps she only just got it resized? One thing’s for sure: we need, as a matter of deep, deep importance, to see this wedding dress.
