In celebration of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Accession Day, the UAE was treated to a rare and heartfelt glimpse into the life of Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Al Maktoum, the wife of the Dubai Ruler.
In the never-seen-before footage of his esteemed wife, the nostalgic video features Sheikha Hind seen alongside her brothers, His Highness Sheikh Hasher and His Highness Sheikh Saeed.
Offering a glimpse inside the childhood of the Sheikha, the rare video, shared in honour of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s campaign, “Thank You Sheikha Hind,” gave the residents of the UAE an up close and intimate insight into one of the UAE’s most cherished figures.
In the clip, the Sheikha is seen in traditional Emirati attire, while seated with her nanny, Noora, as she gently combs her hair.
The video honours Sheikha Hind’s bountiful contributions to the UAE and her role in the royal family.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Dedicates A Special Video To Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Al Maktoum
The Dubai Ruler, who is also the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, honoured his wife by launching a special campaign called, “Thank you Sheikha Hind,” a touching tribute video which he shared with his 8.8 million followers and devoted admirers.
The campaign graciously called the Sheikha a mother of giving and mercy – he even lovingly referred to her as the “pillar of the home, and the foundation of the family.”
He began the heartfelt message explaining why he dedicated the Accession Day to his wife, “Every year on January 4th, we are used to celebrating the Accession Day and dedicating it in a different way.”
“This year, I would like to dedicate January 4th to my wife, Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum,” he said. “My companion, my support and my backer in this life.
“My greatest supporter throughout my journey. My greatest wish, Hind, is that God protects you, makes you happy, and strengthens the bond of love between us.”
Who is Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Al Maktoum?
Born on February 12, 1962, Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Al Maktoum is a distinguished member of Dubai’s royal family. She is the daughter of Sheikh Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum and Sheikha Shaikha bint Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum and is the granddaughter of the esteemed Emirati ruler, Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Hasher Al Maktoum who ruled Dubai from 1912 to 1958.
In 1979, Sheikha Hind married Sheikh Mohammed. Together they share 12 children which include: Sheikh Hamdan, the Crown Prince of Dubai; Sheikh Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, as well as Sheikh Ahmed, the Head of the UAE Olympic committee.
The sheikha is well-known for her charitable and philanthropic work. She runs a slew of initiatives that have helped the progression of the UAE, from empowering women across sport and strengthening Emirati family values to donation drives.
