It was a stormy return to the work week after the long Eid Al Fitr break for UAE residents as intense lightning and thunder accompanied by heavy rain and hail hit the country on Tuesday morning, as previously predicted by the UAE Met Office.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) reported that skies across the UAE are expected to be cloudy with showers hitting most parts of the country.

Unstable weather is expected to continue until 6.30pm on April 16.
If you were planning a beach day with the friends any time soon, you might want to change that as the NCM reported that the conditions at sea are expected to be very rough in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea. Flooding in the mountainous parts of the UAE was also reported.

Showers are also expected on Wednesday, especially in the northern and eastern parts of the country, such as Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, before the conditions gradually stablise.

On Monday evening, it was announced by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, that government employees and private schools were to work remotely due to the unstable weather.
Due to upcoming weather conditions, we have instructed all Dubai Government entities and private schools to work remotely on Tuesday, April 16.
