MAHA ABDUL RASHEED IS STAYING HOME

Maha Abdul Rasheed has always been Grazia‘s favourite ray of sunshine, and Dubai’s 24-lockdown is no different. Here the brains and beauty behind Bambah reveals how she’s loving her new life.

How are you finding the transition to a new way of working/life?
I’m honestly really enjoying it! I’m spending a lot of my quarantine time at home with my family. It’s a great opportunity to slow down our busy schedules and spend quality time together at a slower pace. By working from home, I get to do different tasks that I normally don’t have so much time to do in my usual busy studio life. I’m getting the chance to plan more effectively, think of ways to develop the business and work on setting strategic plans. It’s also a time to reflect on our current progress and see how we can improve our performance and set new plans for the future. I just miss my team so much and I miss going to my store and my studio and our daily interaction over coffee, laughs and conversation.

What have been the biggest challenges?
I’m usually inspired by my surroundings. I love being out on the streets and observing people and different behaviours. I also get inspired when I travel and observe new cultures and traditions and get exposed to local designs. Nonetheless, this isolation has also given me a lot of time to plan and develop the business in a calmer environment, which I don’t normally have the time for.

What’s been the most pleasant surprise?
My biggest surprise is that I am actually enjoying this so much! I’m usually a very active person and I’m always on the move, so I never thought that I would settle so quick and adjust to the slower pace.

What are your hopes for the future?
I really hope that we unite as a team and lead a more peaceful life and focus our efforts towards more sustainable methods.

What message do you have for Grazia readers?
No sadness is forever and there will always be light at the end of the tunnel. Just hang in there and we will all be happy again soon!
