Furne one, founder and creative director of amato couture, is quarantining with his maltese dog duchess

Furne One, Founder and Creative Director of Amato Couture – who’s dressed the likes of Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Shakira, Nicole Scherzinger and Jessie J – believes that challenges are part of life’s blessings

How are you finding the transition to a new way of working/life?
Change is not the only constant thing in this world, but is also the uttermost core of the evolution of humanity. During this time, your flexibility and adaptability will be challenged, but moreover it is a quintessential opportunity to be able to develop a new skill, a new hobby or even a new talent. We always evolve as humans and this transition could be a humongous positive instrument, if we can only see its silver lining. Nevertheless, even during the pre-quarantine period, everyone who knows me, well knows that I love staying at home with my Maltese dog, Duchess. Being alone gives me time to read, think and generate more ideas, to reflect and spawn visions, to dare my creativity and learn how to move forward.

What have been the biggest challenges?
Challenges are life’s blessing that makes us stronger than ever. Focus and not fear. Dust off and be clear. As much as I miss the personal touch and interaction with my colleagues, team members and clients, their safety is the most imperative to any speck. Perhaps, the biggest challenge is the client’s fitting, but most of our clients are loyal ones and have been coming back and forth, so we already know their measurements, with a spear note to every adjustment.

Furne One wants Grazia readers to stay home, stay safe, and stay creative

What’s been the most pleasant surprise?
Peace and tranquility that results from isolation, I believe, is an exemplary virtue to an artist’s creativity. Our team has evolved from meetings and discussions inside a conference and design room to a monumental brainstorming and exchange of ideas over Zoom meetings and at the comfort of their own homes. I think it is also a way for my team to learn about new skills and expertise. It is not only me, I need my team to evolve as well, and fortunately they surprise me, it is not just cutting the fabrics, they also learn about cutting the Gordian knot.

What are your hopes for the future?
United we stand, divided we fall. The fashion industry in the UAE is truly one of the fastest rising fashion industries in the entire world and with the visions and support of the UAE leaders, we will all unite, dust off, stand up and rise again. Life might have thrown some stumbling blocks on us but we can actually create stepping stones out of them and find a vigorous and meritorious way to our life’s goal.

What message do you have for Grazia readers?
Stay Safe. Stay Home. Stay Creative.
