ARWA AL BANAWI IS STAYING HOME

Saudi-born, Dubai based fashion designer Arwa Al Banawi is spreading the message of staying home.

How are you finding the transition to a new way of working/life?
Embracing change is good, I train my mind to fit the circumstances and make the best out of it and that’s a blessing hamdillah, the most important thing now is to be safe and empower that message.

What have been the biggest challenges?
I think it’s the production as we have to be in house with all the tailors and we have now pushed back on production to insure the safety of the staff.

What’s been the most pleasant surprise?
Working from home is actually not bad at all, we have all our meetings online, I get to work in PJs and play my music out loud and it’s cosy. I don’t mind it right now.

What are your hopes for the future?
I hope we take this time to reflect to make necessary changes that will make the world a better place, and switching off is needed every now and then it helps creatives create with more consciousness. I think the rush and the deadlines sometimes you forget the beauty and passion for what you do because it becomes about the deadline and the rush of those deadlines that you forget the peaceful and beautiful purpose of what you do and the balance of rush and disconnect is good because you will rest your mind and your work flow. I think its important and I’m realising this now.

What message do you have for Grazia readers?
To stay at home and stay safe and we will inshallah pass through this and we need to make the best out of it and help in whatever way we can to those that in need of our support at least by empowering the message to stay home.
