Like mother, like daughter. We have all witnessed Queen Rania take centre stage when it comes to issues relating humanitarian issues, most recently which has been the crisis affecting Gaza.

Following in her mother’s footsteps, Princess Salma is stepping up to do her bit to help the Palestinians affected by the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The 23-year-old Princess of Jordan showcased her steadfast ability and prowess as she took charge of the Jordanian Air Force to deliver critical medical supplies to Jordan’s field hospital in the Gaza Strip.

An official statement from the Jordanian Armed Forces claimed, “The crew of the aircraft, operated under royal directives, was accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Salma bint Abdullah II, holding the rank of First Lieutenant/Pilot in the Royal Jordanian Air Force.”

It’s no surprise that her proud mother, Queen Rania, had taken to Instagram to share a sincere post to show her pride over her daughter’s incredible feat. The caption read, “Salma with her brothers in arms of the Royal Jordanian Air Force during the fifth airdrop of urgent medical supplies to northern Gaza. God bless you all.”

The Princess’s journey to becoming the first female jet pilot in the Jordanian Armed Forces at just 19 years old, is not only inspiring but one that deserves admiration. In 2020 she completed her theoretical and practical pilot training with the Jordanian Armed Forces on a fixed-wing aircraft. She has since then gone on to achieve more and shatter glass ceilings when it comes to this male-dominated field.

Besides demonstrating her skills as a first lieutenant, Princess Salma also takes a keen interest towards archaeology. She graduated earlier this year from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in Archeology, further proving that she’s capable of it all.

Long gone are the days, where a princess’s achievements were limited to just basic skills. Princess Salma has pushed herself to the forefront to achieve more for not only herself but for the people in need as well. She is making sure to erase all gender stereotypes and rise ahead for all women.
