During Ramadan, time slows down in the best way possible — moments become more intentional, conversations more meaningful, and traditions take on a renewed sense of significance. It’s in this spirit that Piaget has introduced a striking new edition of its Limelight Gala Precious watch, created in collaboration with Emirati designer Shamsa Alabbar. The result? A wearable ode to the UAE’s rich maritime heritage, crafted with the kind of detail that makes you stop and appreciate it.
Alabbar, known for pushing the boundaries of Arabic typography in design, brings her signature Token motif to the watch — a geometric interplay of lines and curves that symbolise power, unity, and balance. It sits against a mother-of-pearl dial, shimmering with delicate gold arabesque patterns. The choice of mother-of-pearl is a deliberate nod to the Gulf’s historic pearling industry, a trade that once defined the region’s economy and identity. In short, this limited-edition Piaget creation isn’t just about keeping time — it’s about honouring it.

For Alabbar, the collaboration is deeply personal. Her grandfathers — one a pearl diver, the other a dhow captain — were integral figures in the region’s seafaring past. Their stories come to life in the watch’s intricate gold latticework, inspired by Arabic architectural elements such as mashrabiya screens. The result is an interplay between heritage and modernity, a watch that feels as much a piece of art as it does a piece of history.
This marks Alabbar’s second collaboration with Piaget, following the success of the first Token-inspired edition. The latest design refines and elevates the concept, fusing Piaget’s expertise in haute horology and goldsmithing with Alabbar’s vision. From the graceful curvature of the case to the sculpted bracelet, every detail is a testament to the maison’s craftsmanship. Reflecting on the creative process, Alabbar shares: “I will always remember the fascination and emotion I felt at the Piaget Manufacture, watching an artisan patiently carve the bracelet, each movement carefully calibrated. We spoke different languages, yet we understood each other perfectly, down to the tiniest detail. That feeling stays with me even now when I look at this new creation that carries both our names.”
Beyond a timepiece, the Limelight Gala Precious watch embodies the spirit of Ramadan — patience, reflection, and an appreciation for the passage of time. To complement the launch, Piaget is also introducing a special set of Ramadan collectible coffee cups, featuring Alabbar’s Token motif with Arabic calligraphy words such as Light, Peace, Blessing, Tranquility, and Generosity.
Crafted for those who cherish both meaning and beauty, the timepiece is available exclusively at select Piaget boutiques during Ramadan.
