Did Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine at the Don’t Worry Darling premiere? It’s the question that’s divided group chats across the world, but it seems we’re finally getting an answer. Appearing on The Late Show this week, Olivia Wilde attempted to clear up some of the controversy that’s surrounded the film, including a very viral moment in which Styles appeared to spit on his co-star Pine.

“Harry did not spit on Chris,” Wilde said of what she dubbed to be a “weird rumour”. She continued, “I think it’s the perfect example of like, people will look for drama anywhere they can. Harry did not spit on Chris, in fact… people will see what they want to see, and that is the creation of drama – and that is clickbait.”

Styles recently addressed the spitgate speculation during a recent stop on his Love On Tour show. “Wonderful to be back in New York,” he said on stage. “I just popped very quickly to Venice to spit on Chris Pine. But fear not, we’re back,” Styles joked.

Pine’s rep also issued a denial about the alleged incident. “This is a completely fabricated exchange,” the spokesperson said, “and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist.”

Drama has followed the film for months, with online speculation running rampant that there’s tension between the cast members. Host Stephen Colbert then pressed Wilde on the rumours that she is “feuding” with Florence Pugh, who plays the lead role in the psychological thriller.

“So no tension between you and Florence Push?” he asked, to which Wilde replied, “I have nothing but respect for Florence’s talent… I have nothing against her for any reason.”

She then added, “I don’t feel like my male director colleagues are answering questions about their cast… people would be talking about the movie itself. They’re praised for being tyrannical, they can be investigated time and time again and it still doesn’t overtake conversations about their actual talent.”
