Following reports of a “full-on cold war” between herself and Victoria Beckham, Nicola Peltz has addressed the feud rumours head-on in a new interview, saying they began when she didn’t wear a wedding dress designed by her future mother-in-law to marry Brooklyn Beckham.

Earlier this week, reports suggested Peltz and Beckham’s relationship turned sour ahead of the wedding when, in the lead-up to the Big Day, the mother of the groom felt left out of the picture.

Page Six’s sources added the Beckhams hadn’t spoken much to the newlyweds since and tensions were raised even higher with Peltz’s new magazine cover that reads, “The new Mrs. Beckham.”

Now, speaking to Variety in a joint interview with her husband, Peltz has spoken out confirming the rumours of a rift did, indeed, begin in the lead-up to her wedding and that they were to do with the fact she didn’t wear a Victoria Beckham-designed wedding dress to walk down the aisle.

Peltz said the plan was for her to wear a gown designed by Beckham’s eponymous British label, but that a few months out from the wedding day, she was told it wouldn’t be able to happen. “I was going to and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realised that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress,” Peltz explained. The bride, of course, ended up wearing a custom-made Valentino gown.

“She didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. That’s where it started, and then they ran with that,” Peltz continued.

Beckham went further by shutting the reports down completely, adding, “I’ve learned they’re always going to try to write stuff like that. They’re always going to try and put people down. But everyone gets along, which is good.”

The couple’s interview comes days after Peltz shared herself crying on Instagram, writing, “We all have days where people make you feel bad and it’s okay to be hurt by it.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the couple discussed their plans to start a family with Beckham saying, “I keep saying to my wife, I can’t wait to be a dad. I’m ready to have kids, but I always tell my wife, whenever you want.”

Peltz added, “We don’t plan on having kids anytime in the next year. But we would love to have a big family one day — we would love to have some of our own, and we would love to adopt.”
