BUPKIS

Pete Davidson’s new comedy, Bupkis, tells the story of his life in both a real and fictive way. The Saturday Night Live alum attempts to tell his own narrative despite the public constantly labeling him as a talentless slacker. Davidson struggles with mental illness, and, in a way, this is his attempt at showing viewers that he’s getting help with the aid of a positive support system. Bupkis reminds viewers that there’s still a human being behind all the cameras.

The comedian is surrounded by constant support and endearing love from his mother, sister, and grandfather. It’s genuinely heartwarming to see how important his family is to him. Chase Sui, Davidson’s real-life girlfriend, also plays his love interest on the show, which adds an extra layer of genuineness and authenticity.

THE CROWDED ROOM

Fans have been anticipating the release of The Crowded Room, a limited series starring Tom Holland, known and loved as Spider-Man and Amanda Seyfried, the Mamma Mia and Mean Girls icon. The 10-episodic series tells a captivating story about a boy, Danny Sullivan, who gets arrested for his involvement at a shooting in New York City, 1979. The main character’s life is explored through various interviews with curious interrogator Rya Goodwin. The story takes on a more emotional and tense tone as the mysteries of the incident unravel. Portraying the troubled character of Danny was mentally draining for Holland and took a toll on his mental health. It is not easy to depict themes of trauma and self-discovery but fans are confident that his performance in the series will be outstanding.

secret invasion

Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion is a much-awaited original series. Set in the present-day MCU, Nick Fury learns of an invasion on Earth by shapeshifting Skrulls, an advanced race of reptilian humanoids. In the past, Fury promised the Skrulls he would find them a safe place to live. In return, the Skrulls worked for him as spies since they could shapeshift and go to places regular people couldn’t go to. Fury, unfortunately, did not keep his word and the Skrull extremists are tired of asking and waiting. The series’ dark, serious, and mysterious tone follows in the steps of Captain America’s Winter Solider. Fans are especially excited for Emilia Clarke’s debut, well-known as Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones. Clarke is to join the MCU as a radical Skrull named G’iah.

People always say they want to see the behind-the-scenes lives of their favourite celebrities. The Idol, directed by Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, is a representation of Hollywood that features popular artists such as Lily-Rose Depp, The Weekend,  Jennie Kim, Troye Sivan, and more. There has been hype building around the show for months and it is said to be more twisted and darker than Euphoria. While some consider the series “game-changing,” others deem it as “disgusting” and “disturbing.” Beware, the show is quite explicit and is not meant for a younger audience.
