A giant transparent dome towered over the Old Royal Naval College in London overnight to house the Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2023 runway. It was almost an otherworldly sight with the likes of Janet Jackson and Hero Fiennes-Tiffin filing into the space. Despite the spectacle and star-studded presence, the main event was on the runway with Naomi Campbell making a stunning appearance.

“@alexandermcqueen SS23 Thank you Sarah Burton , Judy , Sam and all the team ❤️❤️❤️,” Campbell wrote on Instagram.

Only the best is reserved for the supermodel who wore a glittering celestial take on the catsuit, McQueen-ified. The full piece look has been on regular rotation with celebs this season however for the new season Alexander McQueen included cut-outs at the upper thigh and shoulders with intricate beading all-over. The leggings extended into boots with a clear perspex wedged heel.

The collection was aptly titled First Sight. “This collection is about searching for humanity and human connection. The eye is a symbol of that humanity, a register of emotion, an expression of uniqueness,” creative director Sarah Burton said in the show notes. “Our clothes are designed to empower. They are stripped back, dissected and focused on cut, drape and silhouette. We also looked at the work of Hieronymus Bosch, at once dark and beautiful.”

Campbell has certainly been busy this year. Her return to the runway in recent years (did she ever really retire?) has seen her walk for just about everyone and during fashion month this September, walked for the likes of BOSS and Tod’s.
