Miss Universe Bahrain has officially revealed its seven finalists and these women are the embodiment of all the glitz, glamour, intellect and compassion. The organisation has recently opened up the opportunity for everyone across the globe to vote for their favourite candidate. Keep scrolling to read more.

The pageant organisation partnered up with Choicely, an official fan-voting app, giving fans all over the world the chance to vote for a candidate they deem fit to win the pageant. The National Director of Miss Universe Bahrain commented on the recent partnership, stating, “I believe that freedom is both a beautiful opportunity and responsibility. And this partnership brought our competition to the next level. All fans and supporters of the finalists will have the total power to choose which finalist they think should win the title.” Voting is open from the 5th of July to the 5th of August and the winner will be crowned in September.

Beauty pageants over the years have become much more than mere physical appearance, instead, it’s now about what a woman stands for, her intellect and her drive to contribute to society. It gives young women a platform to speak out about current issues and their solutions. One such contestant wants to put an end to stereotypes perpetuated against Middle Eastern women, the 19-year-old Lujane Yacoub stated, ” I find it important to showcase the fact that Arab women aren’t oppressed and have the capability to hold their own within the culture.” She goes on, “The organisation alone is a symbol of Bahraini women empowerment and I hope throughout my journey competing, I can help address and dispel many misconceptions and stereotypes surrounding women in the Middle East.”

Last year’s reigning winner Evlin Khalifa, repped a pink burqini that had the words, “Arab women should be represented,” and “A Muslim woman can also be a Miss Universe.” An event that captured the attention of viewers and gained her, the title of Miss Universe Bahrain. “An empowered woman is a role model of the people and whose actions lead to success. And I’m here to be that woman to lead all the people to success and believe in themselves,” she said as she answered her final question.

The owner and National Director of the organisation, Josh M. Yugen has managed to create a path for such young women who want to leave a mark and create something special, and we can help these women achieve it by voting for them. Seems like it could be tough competition this year, with all these worthy contenders.
