Mich Turner is a household name in the world of cakes and pastries. She founded Little Venice Cake Company 25 years ago. She has since worked as a cake supplier in five star hotels and accomplished an A-list celebrity clientele. Additionally, she has encompassed the world of pastries and baking from the very beginning of her illustrious career.
Below, Mich Turner speaks to GRAZIA about how she was introduced to the world of cakes, how she established her career and accomplished a-list clientele.
The beginnings of a fruitful career
The fruits of her labour in the cake-making space began when she was just a teenager, telling GRAZIA she has “lived and breathed, baked and decorated cakes” her entire life.
After winning her first baking competition at just 15, she went on to create her A-level teacher’s wedding cake at 17 which ultimately fuelled her passion. After school, Turner went on to study at university to become a qualified food scientist, where she also spent an industrial year at McVitie’s working with cake and biscuits.
Prior to founding Little Venice Cake Company in 1999, she worked at Harvey Nichols as a Bakery and Patisserie Buyer. “I loved making cakes and felt I could offer an unsurpassed customer experience,” she recalled. This led her to establishing herself as the preferred cake supplier to all the five-star London hotels. And the rest, as they say, is history.
A-List Celebrity Clientele

After founding her own company in 1999, it didn’t take long for the A-listers to come knocking. Just a year later, in 2000, Madonna recruited the pastry connoisseur to create her wedding cake for her nuptials to Guy Ritchie. Soon after the likes of Sir Paul McCartney, Pierce Brosnan, David Beckham, Gordon Ramsey, Sharon and Ozzie Osbourne and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II were all added to her roster of clients.
In fact, Brosnan himself has described her as the “the Michelangelo of cakes”, she revealed, adding: “It is wonderful to have the endorsement of celebrities, but for me, it is about creating the perfect cake for that particular celebration, to create the perfect memory that lasts a lifetime.”
Her expertise in cakes and pastries spans far beyond the kitchen, with internationally published books, live demonstrations, business talks, masterclasses, consultancy and numerous TV and radio appearances under her belt.
Her Foray to Dubai
“It is important we continue to grow, develop and expand our service and exciting to consider new territories,” she explained. “Later this year we celebrate our 25th anniversary and have an exciting collection of 25 for 25 to unveil.
“We embrace this evolution and love the fact our art form is a feast for the eyes and a memory for the palate. I am excited for the next 25 years.”
